Oshie's World

Life Through A Golden Eye

Golden Retrievers Love Watermelon

North Carolina winters can be pretty wild. One day it will be in teens all day and threatening to snow and the next day it will feel like summer. Then there are the days where the temperature starts off as freezing and by the afternoon it is in the 60’s and 70’s. I love a mild winter as much as the next person but the huge swings in temperature from day to day (and even in the same day) are really annoying.

Enough complaining. Yesterday we saw temps in the high 70’s and low 80’s. The sun was shining and it was gorgeous outside. It almost felt like a summer day. So we decided to enjoy the weather and sit outside with Oshie. We even had some Watermelon to help complete the dreams of summer. I think Oshie knew that we were going to give him some because he was whining before we even had a chance to set the plate on the table and sit down. So you guessed it…here comes another video of Oshie. ¬†Below is a short video of Oshie scarfing down two pieces of Watermelon while wearing his goofy propeller hat. Prepare yourself for the cuteness. As always enjoy and thanks for stopping by.

Day 21: Stormy Weather

“After a storm comes a calm”

-Matthew Henry

Yesterday we had some pretty crazy weather and so did many other folks on the east coast. Some areas received snow while we endured some crazy thunderstorms. At one point in the afternoon Nancy informed me that she was seeing quarter sized hail where she works.

When I left my office for the day there were rivers all over the place that shouldn’t have been there. It was also unseasonably cool. Anyway I love crazy weather like that…except for the hail. Here is an image from yesterday afternoon when the weather began to clear up.

On different note, the neighborhood Hawk was back this morning. I still can’t get close enough to take a decent photo. He sees everything but here is my best attempt from this morning.

Today was the third and final day of the quote challenge. I appreciate Tippy Tales challenging me and I propose that SATechs and The Nighthawk Project complete the same challenge.

Have a great weekend!

Come On Mother Nature…

If you remember I recently commented about how wonderful the weather was over the weekend. The temperature was reminiscent of a beautiful spring day. The air felt fresh and there was a nice slow breeze. The sun was shining and for the first time in a while the yard was not a mud pit.

Fast forward to today. While it is still warm outside (something like 74 today), the weather has quickly turned from beautiful to ugly and even downright mean. We have multiple weather warnings for eastern North Carolina ranging from Tornadoes and high winds, to flooding and hail.

Tuesday evening after a walk. Cloud cover rolling in.

The weather slowly began to change starting Sunday yet it still wasn’t that bad. There was maybe a light drizzle of rain here and there coupled with the sun poking through the clouds. The temperature¬†has stayed warm and the yard for the most part has remained dry. When Oshie and I woke up this morning it was again raining very lightly and the wind which had been non-existent was really starting to gust.

Around 9:00 or 10:00 am the news outlets and radio began to warn of possible tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and sustained wind up to 70 MPH. I am not worried about the rain, wind or even the possible severe weather. In all honesty what I am worried about is my poor pup and how bored he is going to be stuck inside during this crappy weather.

Oshie is happiest outside no matter what conditions are

Oshie always seems so bored when he is inside. He truly seems to be the happiest when he gets to roam free in the yard. He has seemed even more bored/depressed since Nancy left for Norway and so I have done my best to give him plenty of time outside despite the weather constantly being uncooperative.

So…hopefully this severe weather skirts around us or just doesn’t happen at all. I mean the weather man is wrong quite often.

Come on Mother Nature. Do us a solid and give us another few days of gorgeous weather. Thanks!
