I can’t remember if I mentioned this or not but I have been training to run my first half marathon in September. I am not sure what made me wan to run because normally I hate running if some kind of sport is not involved. Anyway, two weeks ago I convinced my wife, brother his roommate to do join me in an 8k beach race. I was more than ready for it and so was my wife and Scott (brothers roommate) but my brother not so much. It kicked is ass but in true Marine form he pushed himself through it and finished.
This is what happens when you don’t run Ethan!
We competed as a team and none of us were really concerned about time ( I was a little because I am always competitive). We did all finish together sort of ha-ha. I finished first with Scott a minute or two behind. I then circled back to run in with my brother and wife. Nancy hung back with Ethan to make sure he would be alright and partly because it was hot and humid and she just didn’t want to run fast. In the end we all crossed the finish line together and had a excellent time.
Best part was taking a dip in the ocean to cool off afterwards.

So one race down and more to follow. Unless we find one soon, my next race will be the Marine Corps Half Marathon which is what started me on this running kick. At the moment I don’t plan to run a full marathon but I also had never planned on running a half so who knows. Happy running!

How fun! …and congratulations! My sister is a runner, but I can’t do to a riding injury. She is just starting to run in marathon’s and it’s fun to cheer her on.

Thanks. I have the gift of being good at running, always have been. I just hated doing it unless there was a sport involved. After I got out of the military in 2011 I stopped running all together because I didn’t have to anymore haha. My only exercise was from weight lifting and playing sports. I am glad I have started running again though and the races make me want to run more. I love competition.

Well done and you all look happy like the Brady bunch 😀 no running here’s it is just too hot – today supposed to turn 33 deg and Benn already being knackered from getting up 😀 so we are waiting for it to cool down a bit – probably tomorrow from what the forecast said.

We were pretty happy. The weather is awful here too. That is summer in thr coastal carolinas though. I have to run at 5am and even then it is still humid out.

I skip the running when it is too hot. Collapsed once before 😀 while running in the heat. Fell into some thorns and looked the part coming out there… all good though just not enough water and food that day. 😀

That is a bit scary. Glad all was well. I only run early in the morning in the summer here. Any other time of day and it is likely I would die 😉

Thank you. I think I will do well. My original goal was to finish in under 2 hours. With how well I am doing already the new goal is how far undet 2hrs can I go?
