Day 22: The Bell Cobra

They were flying all over the place on Friday. I don’t see them as often as I do the other Helos so it was nice to get the chance to photograph them. The lighting wasn’t the best thanks to the cloud coverage but the pilots were flying nice and low which made up for the poor conditions.

I was able to get plenty of shots it I still need to cull them and process the keepers. Eventually I will post the keepers. Thanks for stopping by.

Day 16: Double Crested Cormorant

The Cormorant is a very odd looking bird. I found this one lounging in the sun on a pylon at a marina. They have a somewhat prehistoric/pterodactyl look going for them which is more noticeable in flight or when their wings are spread in. The eyes are what drew my attention, the color is very interesting and unlike any other bird eye I have seen. From a distance you might mistake them for a duck floating in the water. Of course there are obvious physical differences but from a distance you can differentiate by noticing that they float much lower in the water. Cormorants are related to Boobies and are found all over North America. They eat fish and catch them by diving underwater.

Day 15: Stay Off The Dunes!

The two photos in today’s post were taken in January. The winter was very mild here in North Carolina and there were even a few days that were warm enough for a beach trip like this one. I definitely wouldn’t want to get in the water however Oshie didn’t seem to mind the chill at all. As long as he had the ball to chase he was happy! I was still using my Canon T5 and the Tamron 70-300 lens during this trip.

Just in case you didn’t already know his name.

Day 13: The Broad

I took this photo of The Broad a museum under construction in downtown Los Angeles last August. I love the architecture of the building but I hadn’t done anything with the photo yet. I processed it in black and white and color but I am not sure which one I like more. I will leave that decision up to you all. Taken with a Canon T5 and Canon 18-55mm kit lens and processed in Adobe Lightroom.

Day 12: Pelican

This image is probably a month or so old by now but I hadn’t done anything with it yet. This is from another trip to the Marina on New River Air Station. The lighting wasn’t great (bit too bright out) but I worked with it as best as I could. I really liked how the feathers on top of its head were wet and how the sun was illuminating that area.  Shot with my Canon 7Dmkii and the Canon 400mm f/5.6L lens I was renting at the time. Processed in Adobe Lightroom.
