Day 8: To The Beach!

Summer is just around the corner and we can’t wait to start going to the beach again. I honestly believe that this is Oshie’s favorite place to go. No matter how long we spend there he never runs out of energy and will run in and out of the waves all day. It isn’t until we get in the car that he crashes. After a day at the beach he is pretty much exhausted and ready for an afternoon and evening of relaxation and sleep. I can’t say I blame him!

Thankfully the waters warm quickly on the coast of North Carolina and we will soon be enjoying the sand between out toes.

Subaru Is Killing It

The commercials for Subaru vehicles has been focused around dogs for a little while now and I think they are doing a damn good job. They are funny, relate-able and have meaning. I saw this one courtesy of my wife and it is awesome.

Cape Fear Memorial Bridge in Monochrome

The weather was awesome this past weekend so I decided to go to Wilmington North Carolina to walk around and snap some photos. It is about an hour away from where we live and it is very photogenic, has plenty of excellent places to eat and to top if off they were having a St. Paddy’s festival.

Well it turned out that the festival was rather small and that I am not that great at street photography. I guess that means I just have en excuse to practice more. So the trip was kind of a bust. I did get some delicious ice cream from a place called Kilwins. Some of the best ice cream ever. I was introduced to it while living in Maryland and am glad they have one in Wilmington. I also had a delicious steak at The George which is a nice restaurant right on the river that is dog friendly (just so you know). However dinner made me miss Nancy because I was eating alone which I have not done at a real restaurant in a long long time. The view and weather and a pint of Guinness however, aided in lifting my spirits.

I do have one photo that I decided might be worth sharing. It is of the Cape Fear River Bridge. I used the in camera HDR function that the 7d mkii has because I was curious and am still learning all the features it has compared to my old SLR. Generally I am not a big fan of HDR but after some quick editing and changing to black and white I thought it wasn’t too bad. Let me know what you think and as always thanks for stopping by.

Oh and next time I will take Oshie and do a little Golden Wilmington Portrait session ha-ha.

Caretakers

Dogs are just so awesome. I recently read an article, albeit and old one but new to me, about two Golden Retrievers who took care of their owner for two days when she fell. Judy at the time was 76 and had two Goldens ages 10 and 4. She lives with Parkinson’s disease and other than her pups to keep her company she lived alone.

Well apparently one day she had a fall in the kitchen and did some pretty serious damage to herself and was unable to  get any help. Her loyal pups laid right by her side keeping her warm and making sure she wasn’t alone until help arrived two days later. Now that is some loyalty and serious love.  Anyway here is a link to the full article in case you wanted to read it and watch the video.

Cheers!
