Puppy Repost

This is a photo I took during our trip to Asheville a few months back. The ISO was really high for this photo thanks to being indoors and not using flash but I still love the way it came out. Lately I have been looking at this photo and contemplating trying to sell it. I was thinking maybe as greeting or thank you cards, or as small/medium prints due to the noise levels. What do you think? Would folks be interested and what kind of prices would be reasonable? Any advice from my fellow photographers that follow the blog would be much appreciated.

Anyway it was too precious not to share again.

Oshie At The Biltmore

I don’t believe I ever posted any of the photos of Oshie at the Biltmore House. He would have fit right in at the Estate with his little bow tie. I am sure he would have appreciated the high society living too. ¬†This is the largest (or was) private home in the United States and has 250 rooms, 43 of which are bathrooms. One could easily get lost in there. It is still owned by descendants of George Vanderbilt and is open to the public year round. The setting is beautiful and Asheville is a fun location to explore and I would highly recommend checking it out.

Of course he couldn’t leave the fish alone.

The grounds were gorgeous and very dog friendly. If only the weather had been a bit nicer on this trip. It was hot and overcast for most of the day we spent at the Estate. There was even a little rain at one point. Hopefully we can make it back during cooler weather and do some more exploring with Oshie. There are so many excellent photo opportunities and the grounds are just pleasant to walk around.

Another One

Another portrait shot of Oshie with a little different processing compared to the previous photo. A little detail in this one.

Hump Day Portrait

This photo makes me laugh. The facial expression and the wisps of hair blowing in the wind make Oshie look so funny.

Day 12: Pelican

This image is probably a month or so old by now but I hadn’t done anything with it yet. This is from another trip to the Marina on New River Air Station. The lighting wasn’t great (bit too bright out) but I worked with it as best as I could. I really liked how the feathers on top of its head were wet and how the sun was illuminating that area. ¬†Shot with my Canon 7Dmkii and the Canon 400mm f/5.6L lens I was renting at the time. Processed in Adobe Lightroom.

How To Learn Portrait Photography

Step 1: Go get yourself a handsome Golden Retriever who listens well.

Step 2: Practice until he is so annoyed with you that he will no longer look at the camera even when you bribe with treats and use all your tricks.

Step 3: Repeat

As anyone who reads the blog knows, I use Oshie quite often to practice photography. I think he is getting pretty sick of it ha-ha. Anyway here are a few shots from the other day. I am trying to get better with using my flash and lighting in general. Also really trying hard to get the color of his eyes to show. Enjoy!

Oh and photography people…tips and critiques welcome.

I think this one came out the best.

Potential here but not digging the reflections in the eyes.

Grass Itches

After rolling around in the dirt and grass Oshie developed an itch. Now that I think about it the fire ants could have been the culprit. With the warm weather we have had lately they have come our of their slumber and are everywhere in our yard. I don’t think that was the case though because I didn’t see any on him and he hasn’t scratched at the same area again. If you have ever been fortunate enough to experience the bite and sting of a fire ant…well then you know how itchy it is.

Enjoy this short series of shots of Oshie mid itch. I recently upgraded my camera to a Canon 7D Mkii and have been experimenting with the amazing 10 frames per second it is capable of shooting. My last camera (Canon T5)was maybe 3 frames per second. This is will be excellent for capturing action shots of Oshie to share on the blog! Enough rambling about Cameras, here’s Oshie!
