During the summer Olympics we watched a good bit of the action going on at the swimming pool as I am sure many of you did. I am a terrible swimmer but it is awesome to watch how efficient and fast Olympic swimmers are. One evening while watching the races Oshie was sleeping in front of the fireplace and began sleep running. My opinion is that he was dreaming about competing in the 200m doggy paddle.
Oshie is looking all fancy with the wind blowing his hair back. He loves when a breeze comes in from the front carrying all the delicious scents of the neighborhood. He tips his head back and takes it all in. I like to think that he is smelling what everyone else is cooking for dinner and wondering if he is going to get some.

Well maybe not so fierce because I have only observed it eating bugs but the Mississippi Kite is fun to watch. They have excellent eye site and are quite capable at capturing flying insects like Dragonflies and beetles. They can put on quite an aerobatic show when when they find a target. They will head off to South America for the winter but I hope they hang out around our house a bit longer.
Shot with my Canon 7d2 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens at 600mm. I rented this lens just to get closer shots of the Kites. Still getting used to the focal length and hoping to get some sharper pictures soon.

I figured it was probably time to post some new pictures but I don’t have anything all that interesting to post at the moment so here is a shot of Oshie running and two shots of a Mississippi Kite returning to its perch with a meal. The kites have been hanging around in a tree across from our house catching all the big flying bugs. It is pretty neat to watch the aerial acrobatics they perform while chasing dragon flies and other large flying insects.
