Lizard Hunting

Here in NC we have these little Lizards (see picture below taken in our driveway).

I am not sure of the name of this lizard and I am too lazy to look it up but they are cool little guys. Most of them are pretty small maybe 2 to 3 inches long from the tip of their snout to the end of their tail. I have seen a few that are larger (probably closer to 5 inches total length).

These lizards like to hang out on our back deck because it gets plenty of sunlight during the day. They hang out on the table and chairs, inside the propane cabinet of the grill and on the railings. Anywhere they can lounge in the sun you will find them.

A few cool things worth noting about these little guys is that they can change color to blend in with their environment, they are fast and they lose their tails as a defense mechanism.

Now on to the title of this post…Oshie loves chasing them. Any time during the day that he goes outside he looks for them on and around the porch. Ne never has much luck catching them and even if he did he would try to play with them like he does every other living thing. It is pretty funny to watch him chase them.

Here are a few shots of him “stalking” one that he saw the other day. As usual he didn’t even come close to catching it. The lizard actually ended up using his head as a soft landing as he jumped off the table. This made Oshie thrash his head around trying to get at the little guy but in the blink of an eye he was off Oshie and well on his way to hiding somewhere under the deck.

Here are a few more shots. One of these days I will get some video. As always thanks for checking us out!

TBT – A Mighty Lion!

Last Halloween we went with the deadly safari theme. Nancy and I dressed as explorers and Oshie was the cute but dangerous lion. As you can see one of the kids in the neighborhood lost a foot. This year we are going 1920’s gangster theme.

I Hate Silly Hats!

Oshie is clearly not happy with the hat that Nancy found at the store and I have to say I agree with him. I wouldn’t want to wear it either. In the one picture that he does look happy I believe he was being bribed with a treat to look at the camera He also didn’t like wearing the Los Angeles Dodgers hat that she bought for him a few months ago. His face says it all. He does look cute though.

Dirty Mouth

Oshie loves to eat grass. Fortunately he is not a digger. I am thankful that we don’t have holes all over the yard and in comparison eating grass is not a big deal. The downsides to Oshie’s addiction to grass are that he tends to get a little to rambunctious and tears out tremendous chunks of sod. This creates ransom dirt spots in  yard that already has plenty of brown spots from his killer pee. Here he appears to be having a good laugh after he has terrorized the lawn.

High Fashion

Oshie doesn’t always let us put clothing or accessories on him but when he does it turns out pretty funny. These photos are from when we was maybe 6 months old which is why his coat looks so short. I don’t remember where we were heading but we thought it would be funny to put some sunglasses on him. Unfortunately for Oshie they were a womens model. I think he pulls it off we will just lie and say he was going for the High Fashion Look.
