It is hump day and that means it is time for another Golden Retriever fact. I have some facts about Golden Retriever height and weight for you this week.
The Golden Retriever falls under the category of large breed dogs. Below are some height and weight stats for Male and Female Golden Retrievers.
Female Golden Retrievers have a healthy weight range of 55-71lbs (25-32kg) while a male Goldens healthy weight range is 65-75lbs (30-34kg).
Female Goldens reach a height of 20-22 inches (51-56cm) and male Goldens height falls within 22-24 inches (56-61cm).
Of course there will always be pups that surpass these averages. Golden Retrievers love to eat so it is important that owners maintain a healthy diet with corrections portions and plenty of exercise to keep their Golden at the optimal weight.
Sorry I didn’t post a fact last week.
We are puppy sitting little Reagan for the week so naturally we have to include him in our videos! We love this little guy and it is going to be hard giving him back to his dad at the end of the week.
Also Oshie starts training to become a Therapy dog this Friday!!!!
Enjoy the video!
Dental Hygiene is very important for your pups. We understand that keeping up with brushing your pups teeth isn’t always easy, especially if they don’t particularly enjoy the process. We are guilty of being a bit to lax with this ourselves even though Oshie loves it..well he loves the toothpaste that is.
So why is it so important to brush a dogs teeth? Here is a short list of the benefits.
Periodontal disease (gum disease in dogs) is commonly seen when a dogs reach three years of age. Left untreated this infection can result in heart, kidney and liver problems for your pup. Dogs can also be in a significant amount of pain due to dental problems like abscessed teeth and you would never know it because they don’t shows signs of pain like we do.
So remember to regularly brush your pups teeth to keep them happy, healthy and free from pain. Also have your vet check your pups teeth during regular check-ups. (Usually included in a check-up)
If your pup doesn’t enjoy having their teeth brushed as much as Oshie (see video below), you might need to start of slowly. Use your finger at first instead of a brush. Allow them to get used to it and eventually work your way to a brush. Also try to make it fun and use a doggie toothpaste that they like. If all else fails, consult your pups Vet.
Hello! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I only have one fact to share with you this week. 🙂
Golden Retriever puppies are the absolute cutest thing you will ever see! Need proof, just check these photos I took of our new friend Reagan!
No he is not ours but we wish he was! He is from the same breeder and rumor has it that his mom is Oshie’s sister which would make Oshie his uncle. He is 8 weeks old and is already clear that he is going to be one smart Golden. He is also the most calm/chill 8 week old puppy we have ever met! Come back next week for more Golden Retriever facts!
